Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia Committee (APC) was initially established in September 1962 under the chairmanship of Col. Sir Ram Nath Chopra along with 21 eminent members. The first meeting of APC was inaugurated at Madras on 10th January, 1963, by Dr. SushilaNayar, the then Union Minister for Health.

APC was initially functional at M/o Health & Family Welfare, subsequently at Dept. of ISM&H/AYUSH with its establishment (1995) and later transferred to Central Council for Research in Ayurveda & Siddha from year 2006. Further the APC was brought under Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine with its establishment in 2010.

Presently APC officiates under auspices of PCIM&H and works under the supervision of Scientific Body of PCIM&H. Constitution of incumbent APC is as follows:
